Firstly, it's crucial to debunk the myth that houseplants can thrive with absolutely zero light. While it's true that some plants can tolerate low light conditions, they generally grow better and appear "happier" in brighter surroundings. But fear not, if you're dealing with low light, there are still options to explore!
Remember those fundamental lessons from primary school, specifically in Biology Class 101? Plants need light to photosynthesize and grow, along with nutrients, water, CO2, and, of course, time. That light can come from various sources:
Direct sunlight.
Indirect or dappled sunlight (ideal for most indoor plants).
Artificial light (whether special grow lights or regular indoor lighting).
Fun fact: Did you know there's a term called "phototaxis" that describes how plants move their leaves to capture light sources? If you have trailing or climbing leafy plants like Pothos, Monsteras, or Philodendrons, you might observe them shifting and rotating over time to optimize light exposure. Amazing, right?
