HELLO! Sending you warm and good vibes for your Wednesday, whether you’re working, out and about, or maybe under the covers in bed with a cold….

We wanted to share some of our favorite plant options for this beautiful, cozy season in Perth. We think Winter or Makuru is a great time to remember the joy of giving. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just want to brighten someone's day, there's ALWAYS a good reason to send a growing gift—something thoughtful, lasting, and alive.

I’ve included 12 faves- just enough to justify a little procrastination read. Let yourself escape for a minute into cosy-season inspiration, and enjoy these thoughtful growing gifts and add-on treats. We hope they bring a little calm and colour into your day!

Our beautiful Umbrella Tree (yep that one in the middle)… We LOVE this one for its lush green leaves and cute “You can stand under my umbrella” vibes. Easy care, loves dappled sunlight and adoring eyes. Makes a nice little feature in any space.

Pot Of Gold Potted Pothos… who doesn’t need a giant pot of gold right now to fund all the things… This cutie is the MOST easy care plant ever, and makes a great office or bedroom companion. If it goes with the decor in your bathroom, it will be happy there too!

Flowering Gerberas in Terracotta- need a pop of bright colour and fun to send to a mate? Gerbs are always a happy option and last so well. The flowers can even be cut and vased, and the plant will keep on going and flowering for years to come. Ours come in terracotta; they can later be planted into the garden, or kept in their pots until they need a bigger home. A cute bright winter treat.

Beautiful Birkins- these jungle-y Philodendrons are a striking plant and are also nice and easy care. We love this option for the stripy lush leaves and our stylish neutral pots than suit any home/office space.

Phalaenopsis Orchids: these are the go-to gift for stylish folk; giving a gorgeous pop of colour and lasting blooms with pretty buds waiting to open. Orchids can of course be kept for years, and with the right care will keep on blooming, keeping special memories alive along with the plant. Love that.

Mandevilla Plant - these are so pretty in bloom and remind us of European sidewalks where they are always abundantly in flower, climbing up terrace windows and hanging from pots outside cafes and bars. Ours come in red/white/pink and are potted up in terracotta ready for the outdoor potted garden.

Our young Citrus Trees make a great meaningful gift for special occasions. They come wrapped in their nursery pot, ready for planting in the garden or into a large outdoor pot. Citrus plants symbolise:

🍊 Abundance – Their ability to bear lots of fruit makes them a symbol of prosperity and good fortune.
🍋 Cleansing & Renewal – Citrus is often associated with purification and fresh starts
🍊 Joy & Positivity – Bright, sunny fruit = bright, sunny mood. Citrus often represents happiness and vitality.
🍋 Luck – In many cultures, especially in East Asia, citrus (like oranges and tangerines) are symbols of luck and wealth.
🍊 Health & Energy – With their vitamin-rich fruit and invigorating scent, citrus plants represent wellness and vitality.
🍋 Love & Fertility – In ancient cultures, citrus blossoms were used in weddings and symbolized love and fertility.

Hearts are ALWAYS on our list. Can’t go past this beautiful climbing/trailing plant. The hearts will just keep on popping, and won’t be stopping any time soon. Similar growth pace as Pothos Plants, and very easy care. Each new heart can remind you of your gifting friend- that’s why we love these so much. These are great to send to a hospital bedside, a teacher’s desk, a co-worker’s office space, and a parent/grandparent in aged care.

Our pretty potted Cyclamens- you’ll see these in all the nurseries during this time of year; that one plant that LOVES blooming through our Aussie winter. So pretty in pink/red/white/purple/burgundy... These make for a gorgeous eye-catching decor piece in a dining area or balcony/terrace/courtyard. They won’t love direct sunlight but do love natural light- oh, and no soggy roots or leaves please!

’Little Lights and Big Wishes’

Just a little something creative and calming if you’re keen to to conjure some magic during the coldest time of year. This is nice to do solo, or with friends or kids. I do this every year x

You’ll need: 🕯 A lantern (jar + tea light = perfect) 📝 Paper + pen for wishes/dreams/goals ☕ A warm drink + cozy socks/scarf

What to do: Make a cuppa. Light your candle. Write your mid-year wishes. When you have a moment, take a walk in nature- through a quiet park, garden, or just around the block. Revisit your wishes. Breathe.
To really feel some extra magic, catch a (likely freezing but worth it) sunrise... or rug up and head out after dark, and let the stars remind you:
