We want them to not only survive, but also stay super healthy (even if they're completely dormant!) so that when the warmer weather returns, they'll be good to go again - sprouting new leaves and blooming like crazy. 

We recommend moving them (where possible) into positions where they'll receive more access to sunlight (yes, keep those curtains/blinds open!) and where possible keep your more fragile (humidity-loving) plants:

· away from cold windows where they may suffer during those 4’C nights

· away from fireplaces/heaters

· together where possible (clumping plants together can help keep them from 'feeling the chill" and drying out) 

CUT BACK ON WATER

Generally our indoor plants need much less water in winter.

We always recommend to check the pot before any water goes in, to ensure the roots don't end up drowning or suffering from root rot/disease.

Plants drink through their roots (right down below), so when you do water them, there needs to be enough to soak through to reach the roots (a deep drink).

A deep drink and then a nice break is the way to go. [If your plant pot has a drainage plug, remove it after watering to let excess water drain — or ensure the pot isn’t sitting in leftover water.]

SOME OF YOUR PLANTS MAY LOSE LEAVES 

Some plants may drop leaves over the winter, but they'll always sprout back when the warm seasons return. It's often nothing to worry about.

You can always research online if you're concerned about your particular plant if it is uncharacteristically losing leaves over winter.

It may be that your plant is exposed to extreme cold or dry heat from heating appliances, or have problems with soil/watering, so try to investigate and remedy if necessary.
