It’s Friday!

Early mornings, long days, endless to-do lists… I get it. Finding the perfect gift for a friend, colleague, or staff member? That can feel impossible when life is busy. Cue: Plants For Friends!

I started this business with a simple, heart-led idea: to bring beautiful, lush, green, and flowering gifts straight to doors across Perth.

A little about me: I grew up on a bush/lake/garden block in Denmark, WA, surrounded by nature. After living in several (much colder!) places overseas, I settled in Perth, where I spent over a decade working as a florist in the city, getting a degree, and juggling other side jobs with some incredible small business owners. I missed home! The garden, the birds, the trees, the epic bush and flower-filled view out the kitchen window. The smell of herbs, the rain on petals, the frogs and bugs and fresh forest air.

The tiny beach apartment I lived in with my partner in Perth had several shelves filled to capacity with potted plants, and though my balcony garden battled with the salty ocean air, I was still determined to fill our space with an indoor jungle vibe.

My family and I have always had this thing where we gift plants for special occasions. Pretty petunias for a new home, small fruit trees (cherry, peach, mango) for birthdays, sweet scented roses for “the mems” (remembering those special ones who’ve passed), chrysanthemums, renuncs, and dahlias to shower love on mums, aunties and grandmas, quirky cacti just for fun….

8 years ago it was a friend’s birthday and I whipped over to the nursery on my day off and picked her up a pretty young “indoor” tree - always a cute way to send love IMO. Sitting in her long skinny driveway after dropping the gift and a love note, an idea hit me and I just had to (quickly, madly, passionately 😅 ) write up a business plan on my phone Notes app for a “Plant Delivery Company” idea that had just arrived in my busy brain….

It was just after the birth of my first child that this this second “small business baby” arrived 😉 - the idea to deliver healthy, growing plants instead of cut flowers.

[Don’t get me wrong, I’m obsessed with blooms too (send me a bouquet and I’ll adore you forever). But plants? They’re another way to get your daily dose of nature - and sooo good for the soul to watch them grow and adapt and transform and flourish…..]

The goal? Make gifting plants easy, beautiful, and stress-free. No traffic, no potting mix mess, no endless searching. Just select a plant, add a thoughtful add-on treat and a cute message/quote/love poem if you like, and we deliver it straight to the recipient.

As a customer once called it: like Uber for plants, but better, and minus the mints. 😉
